How to use revise splitter function in Plannex tool

Plannex Revise Splitter: The “Ninja Sword” for Revised Schedules

When you need to issue a revised schedule after an EOT (Extension of Time) or a change order, some clients or consultants may require you to split all in-progress activities, even if you do not fully agree with that approach.

Doing this manually can take hours, and one mistake can force you to restart the whole process.

Plannex makes this job much faster with a dedicated tool: Revise Splitter.

What Revise Splitter does

In seconds, Revise Splitter can split any In Progress activity inside your XER file without breaking your logic or progress data.

Here is what it handles automatically:

  • Detects all In Progress activities and splits them systematically.
  • Preserves (and updates) predecessors and successors between the old and new activities.
  • Splits and redistributes resources between old and new activities accurately, including Remaining and Total values.
  • Keeps Activity Codes on the split activities, which is critical for tracking and reporting in large projects.
  • If you use Expenses, the tool can split them based on Physical Progress.
  • Lets you control the naming approach by defining the suffix for the old and new activities (Activity ID and Activity Name), based on what you and the consultant agree on.

Before you run it (important checklist)

To get clean results, make sure your P6 data is consistent before exporting the XER:

  • Physical progress is correct (Plannex relies on physical duration and units).
  • Actual Units match Earned Units, and Actual Cost matches Earned Cost.
  • No Out of Sequence logic issues.
  • No actuals recorded after the Data Date.
